— WHO THEY ARE —
Tilde founded the Mulvis Restoration Fellowship eight years ago with a folding table, a subscription book, and the unkillable belief that remembering things properly is a form of worship. Her order thinks so too, officially; unofficially her superiors regard the Fellowship as a hobby that got out of hand, and Tilde's advancement has quietly stalled at Adept while she spends her feast days at guild fairs explaining gnomish liturgical engineering to people who came for the cheese. The Fellowship has forty-one subscribing members, of whom perhaps six could name what it restores. It does not matter. Tilde understood early that a society is a vehicle: you build the vehicle out of whoever will sit in it, and you keep it pointed at the thing that matters, and for eight years the thing that mattered was a sealed ruin nobody could enter. She catalogued instead. Salvaged door-script rubbings, a congregation roll bought off a rag dealer, one automaton finger sold to her as a curiosity that she recognised on sight and paid three months' stipend for. Then the dragon woke, and the duke posted his reward, and every sword in the county turned toward her shrine — hers — with instructions to resolve whatever they found. Tilde has seen what soldiers do to a site. She convened the Fellowship's only quorate meeting in three years and put a single motion: that the Fellowship go itself, first, and stand in front of the important rooms. She memorises Remove Fear because she has read the congregation roll and knows what the automatons do to intruders, and because the fear in question, she suspects, will be her own. The minute book comes with her. If they die in there, the minutes will say what they were for.

— WHAT THEY REMEMBER —
- 2026-08-30 · mulvis-restorers-b1 Automaton Closet, shrine. Six-armed guardian standing free on unbroken floor — not seated, no plinth, no clan mark, no door-script on joints/palms/hollow. Six short swords locked in the hands. Lightning-bolt socket in the spine, purpose-cut and empty (same shape as the rag-man's lintel rubbing). Congregation roll: they take a charge in the spine and do not stop. Broken storage shelves; moldy gnome-sized robes on the floor, unhandled, no visible script. East door locked. We catalogued from behind Brokk. Did not seat, did not lift cloth, did not touch. Remove Fear unspent. Minutes: we did not wake it.
- 2026-08-30 · mulvis-restorers-adv1 Ruined Great Door, shrine exterior. Rubble concealed two severed brass automaton hands (crab-like, scuttling on fingers) that ambushed us while salvaging — no plinth, no markings, same as the six-armed guardian in the closet: unmarked brass constructs seem to be this shrine's default menace, not exceptions. Hand 1 clamped onto Jonas (down to 3/7 hp) before Jonas/Kell destroyed it; I finished hand 2 with my mace (19 to hit, 3 dmg). Both down, no casualties past bruising. Salvage exposed in the rubble: two pearl eyeballs, three golden gears, a brass mechanical voice box — not yet collected/catalogued. East threshold into the shrine now stands open. Remove Fear still unspent, still memorised. Note for the minutes: neither hand bore door-script or clan marks, consistent with the guardian — worth recording as a pattern before we go east.
