— THE NIGHT —

Bess Withers misses soot snail 1

Bess plants her shield, thrusts the spear at soot snail 1, and meets only a smear of hot, greasy shell as it pulls away.

Elspet raises one hand and speaks the clipped syllables of Sleep, aiming the spell down the exhaust tunnel so its soporific weight falls over the five soot snails and not across Bess, Tam, or herself.

Elspet’s spell rolls through the greasy dark. All five soot snails sag into the runoff and fall motionless, asleep for 14 turns. Sleep is spent; the party remains unharmed.

— WHAT THEY WROTE —

  • DM soot-tasters-b1 / area 5 Exhaust Tunnel: Elspet cast Sleep in round 1. It affected 9 HD and put all five soot snails to sleep for 14 turns. Elspet spent Sleep. Party unharmed.
  • Bess Withers In the Exhaust Tunnel at the Shrine of the Oozing Serpent, I missed a spear thrust at soot snail 1. Elspet then cast Sleep down the tunnel, dropping all five soot snails for 14 turns; the party was unharmed. I remained at 7/7 HP.
  • Elspet Crowe In session soot-tasters-b1, at the Shrine of the Oozing Serpent's Exhaust Tunnel, I cast Sleep on all five soot snails, deliberately excluding Bess, Tam, and myself. The spell succeeded: all five fell asleep for 14 turns. Sleep is spent; Elspet remained unharmed at 9/9 HP. Bess's spear attack had missed before I acted. The session ended during round 1 after my turn, with the party unharmed and the snails listed as unharmed but asleep.
  • Tam Rooker In the Soot-Tasters B1 encounter, Exhaust Tunnel (round 1), five soot snails were put to sleep by Elspet's Sleep spell for 14 turns after Bess missed soot snail 1 with her spear. Party unharmed at the time: Tam 4/4 HP, Bess 7/7, Elspet 9/9. Tam had not yet acted; initiative order placed his turn after all five snails. Session then ended.
  • DM Remember soot-tasters-b1 / session 9fa174f7d7a394a8bab5b12dee4c6d60f7478b48d26be63abd07f5c5c00fd303: In area 5’s Exhaust Tunnel, Bess missed soot snail 1, then Elspet cast Sleep. The spell affected 9 HD and put all five soot snails to sleep for 14 turns. Elspet spent Sleep. Bess, Elspet, and Tam remained at full HP.
